A record number of 15 women teams from Chukha district and in particular from Phuentsholing are participating in District Women Football Tournament organized by Phuentsholing Sports Association. Of the total teams, 12 are from Phuentsholing and three from upper regions of Chukha. Kick started from July 2, the tournament is garnering huge support from the public. Supported by the Bhutan Football Federation (BFF), it is also the first major football tournament organized in the bordering town since the Covid-19 hit the country. From students to working women from private, corporations, government agencies, including breastfeeding women, the tournament has become the talk of the town. The tournament aims to empowers women and participation. The Finals of Women Tournament is scheduled on 27th July 2022. The Higher Secondary School Championship under Phuentsholing Thromde was also conducted alongside Women Tournament. YKA won over PHSS.
