The Phuentsholing Sports Association has been conducting an exciting District Youth Football League for students under the age of 16, both boys and girls, as well as for under 14 years boys and girls of Phuentsholing Region since 1st April 2023. The league has brought together over 263 students, including 183 boys and 80 girls, to showcase their football skills in a competitive and fun environment.

Apart from promoting sports culture, this league also aims to inculcate values such as team spirit, sportsmanship, and discipline among the young players. The players are encouraged to uphold these values on and off the field, which will help them become responsible and respectable citizens in the future.

The matches are being played on weekends, providing ample time for students to participate while balancing their academic responsibilities. The league has also created an atmosphere of healthy competition, encouraging students to push themselves to perform at their best.

One of the most exciting aspects of the District Youth Football League is the participation of both boys and girls. The league is a significant step towards promoting gender equality in sports, breaking down traditional barriers and allowing girls to compete alongside boys. The PSA is committed to providing equal opportunities to all participants, and the inclusion of girls in the league sends a powerful message of inclusivity and diversity. The League will culminate on 3rd June 2023 with Finals between the top teams.
